How long does a battery replacement take?
On a phone usually 20 to 30 minutes, while you wait. On a MacBook or laptop, one to two working days, because the battery is fixed into the case there and the machine has to be closed up and tested again afterwards.
My screen or back is lifting, what now?
That is almost always a swollen battery. Switch the device off, unplug the charger and bring it in as soon as you can. Continuing to charge and use it makes the swelling worse, and at some point the battery damages the screen or the case too. Never puncture it yourself.
Will my data be preserved?
Yes, a battery replacement does not touch your storage and everything is still there afterwards. Do make a backup first anyway, simply because that is sensible with any device that is being opened.
