Sealing is part of the repair

On reassembly we fit fresh sealing all round rather than reusing the old adhesive, because reusing it is exactly how a phone lets moisture in weeks later while looking perfectly fine from the outside. Even so, we promise no more than we can measure: an Xperia that has been opened is never as sealed as it was from the factory. Rain or washing your hands is no problem, but do not take it swimming after a repair, however good it looks. That is a more honest answer than the "waterproof" stamp you might get elsewhere.

Our workshop is on Rijnstraat 76-H in the Rivierenbuurt, walking distance from Amsterdam RAI station and close to the Zuidas, De Pijp and Oud-Zuid. Tram 4 brings you to the door from the centre. If you cannot come in, we will collect your Xperia and bring it back, or you can send it by insured post.

Frequently asked questions about Sony repair

Will my Xperia still be water resistant afterwards?

We fit fresh sealing all round, so it will handle rain and washing your hands. But a phone that has been opened is no longer as sealed as it was from the factory, which is why we advise against swimming and diving afterwards. Anyone promising you otherwise cannot measure it.

How long does an Xperia repair take?

Longer than on a phone held together by clips. The glass has to come off with heat, the old sealing has to come out and new sealing has to go in. If the part is ready it is usually done the same day or the next working day; you hear which at drop-off.

My Xperia reports moisture in the connector.

That warning comes from the sensor in the charging port and means there is liquid or corrosion in it. Do not keep charging with a cable, because that makes the corrosion worse. Bring the phone in: we clean the port and measure whether the contacts are still sound.

My model is not in the list.
