At Blue Apple in Amsterdam Zuid we look at AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. And we would rather be clear straight away about what is and is not possible, because with AirPods that is a more honest conversation than with a phone.
The earbuds themselves are not made to be opened. The battery in the stem is the size of a grain of rice and fully potted, so buds whose playing time keeps dropping cannot realistically be restored. We would rather tell you that before you commission a repair than after. The charging case is another matter: there is a real battery in there, and a case that no longer tops up your buds, or no longer charges itself, can often be fixed.

What we can do for you
The most common problem we solve is not a fault at all: dirt. A layer of earwax, lint and skin oil builds up in the charging contacts of the case and on the contacts of the buds, and then one bud stops topping up or charging stops altogether. That is cleaning work, and often that is the end of it. Beyond that we deal with moisture damage inside the case and look at its charging port. Whatever is going on with yours, we establish it for free, and if replacing is smarter than repairing we will say so — even though that means we earn nothing from your visit.
