Phone repair Amsterdam

Screen, battery, charging port, camera or water damage: you hear the fixed price before we start, and for most repairs you wait for it.

Fixed price up front Lifetime warranty on the part Free diagnosis No cure, no pay

Your phone is broken and you want it back today. That is the situation Blue Apple exists for. In our workshop at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam Zuid we repair phones from iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Motorola, Oppo, Realme, Nothing and Fairphone. A cracked screen, a battery that no longer lasts the day, a charging port that does nothing, a camera that will not focus or a phone that fell in the water: these are the repairs we do every day.

On this page you will find what you want to know about phone repair in Amsterdam before you come in. Which repair you probably need and how to recognise it. What a repair costs, with the current prices per model from our catalogue. Which screen qualities there are and what the difference is. How it works if you walk in, book online, have your phone collected or post it. And what our warranty does and does not cover.

Two things are always fixed with us. You hear the price up front and it does not change along the way. And if the repair does not succeed, you do not pay for it: no cure, no pay. If you do not know what is wrong, we look for free and you are under no obligation afterwards.

What does your phone's complaint mean?

What you see or notice is not always the part that is broken. A phone that will not turn on can have an empty battery, a stuck system or a faulty board. Below are the complaints we hear most, what they usually mean and what you can try yourself before you come in. If you cannot work it out, we establish it for free.

My phone will not turn on

Start with a forced restart. On an iPhone 8 and everything after, press volume up and release, then volume down, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. On most Android phones, hold the power button and volume down together for about ten seconds. If nothing happens, leave it on a charger you know works for half an hour. A battery that is completely empty sometimes does not respond for a while. Then call the phone from another device: if you hear it ring or feel it vibrate, it works and the problem is the screen. If everything stays silent, it can be the battery, the charging port or the board, and then we measure it out.

The screen stays black, but the phone vibrates or rings

Then the phone itself works and the problem is in the screen or the connection to it. That often happens after a drop, even when there is no crack on the outside: the display panel under the glass can be damaged. A new screen usually fixes it. Because the phone otherwise works, your data stays.

Green, pink or white lines run across the screen

Coloured lines that stay put are almost always damage to the display panel itself, often after a drop or pressure on the screen. They do not disappear on their own and usually get worse. On an OLED screen a line like that can also appear without a visible drop. The fix is a new screen.

My screen does not respond, or it presses things by itself

Take the screen protector off first and clean the screen: a cracked or dirty protector is surprisingly often the cause. Then restart the phone. If part of the screen still does not respond, or the phone opens apps and types letters you did not touch, the touch layer is damaged. That is bonded to the screen, so a new screen is the repair then too.

My battery runs down quickly

Look first in the battery settings at which apps use the most power. An app that keeps running in the background can drain a healthy battery in a few hours. On an iPhone, Settings, Battery, Battery Health shows how much capacity is left; under 80% replacement is worth it. If your phone also shuts down in the cold or on a sudden spike, such as opening the camera, that is a classic sign of a worn battery.

My phone will not charge, or charges very slowly

Try another cable and another adapter, and another socket. Then look into the charging port with a light: if there is lint in it, the plug does not go in deep enough. If the phone charges wirelessly but not with a cable, it is almost certainly the port. If it will not charge any way at all, it can also be the battery or the charging chip. In the shop we test it with a cable and charger we know are good.

My phone gets hot

A phone gets warm while charging, gaming, navigating or filming, and in the sun. That is normal. If it gets hot while you are doing nothing, or it smells odd, or you see the screen or the back lifting, it can be a faulty or swollen battery. Stop charging and bring it in.

I have no signal or no Wi-Fi

Turn airplane mode on and off, restart the phone and try another SIM or another Wi-Fi network. If it still does not work, and especially if it started after a drop or moisture, something on the board or the antenna can be damaged. We establish that first, and then you hear what the repair is and what it costs.

My photos are blurry or the camera will not focus

Clean the camera lens first with a soft cloth; fingerprints and grease give exactly that haze. If you see a crack in the glass over the lens, the problem is there. If photos stay blurry with a clean, intact lens, you hear a ticking or buzzing sound when you open the camera, or the image shakes, the camera itself is faulty. We test every camera and replace the one that is the problem.

I hear nothing while calling

Check the sound is not going to a Bluetooth device, such as earbuds in your bag or your car. If you hear the other person on speaker but not against your ear, it is the earpiece speaker at the top. Its grille sometimes clogs with dirt and skin oil; careful cleaning with a dry, soft brush helps then. Otherwise we replace the earpiece speaker.

My phone was dropped, but it still seems to work

After a drop, also check the things you do not see straight away: whether the cameras still focus, whether Face ID or the fingerprint reader still works, whether you can still be understood when you call, and whether the phone still charges normally. A small crack in the screen or the back can grow and lets moisture in. Have it looked at if you need to; the diagnosis costs you nothing.

My phone got wet, but it still works

Even then it is wise to turn it off and not charge it until it has been looked at. Water that got in causes corrosion that only causes problems after days or weeks: a charging port that gives up, a screen that starts to flicker, or a phone that just switches off. The sooner we open it and clean it, the smaller that chance.

My SIM card is no longer recognised

Take the SIM out, check it is not damaged and put it back. Then try it in another phone, or another SIM in yours. If another SIM works, the card is the problem and your provider can help. If no card works, especially after a drop or moisture, we first establish what is going on inside your phone.

My phone has become slow

A phone that gets slower does not always need a repair. Restart it, see if an update is waiting and whether storage is full. If it also got slower together with a battery that empties faster, the phone may be throttling itself to spare a worn battery. A new battery then often makes it noticeably quicker again.

My phone is stuck on the logo

A phone stuck on the startup logo, or that keeps restarting, can have a software problem, for example after a failed update. On an iPhone you can connect it to a computer and choose update in recovery mode; that leaves your data in place, unlike a restore. If that does not work, or it happened after a drop or moisture, something on the board or the battery can be wrong and we measure it out.

Which phone repair do you need?

Most faults on a phone fall into a handful of categories. Below, per repair, how you recognise it, what we do and roughly how long it takes. If you are unsure between two causes, that is exactly what the free diagnosis is for: we measure it out and you hear the result before anything happens.

Screen repair

Average duration in our catalogue: ± 30 minutes

A cracked screen is the repair we do most often. Sometimes only the glass has cracked and everything else still works. Sometimes you see lines, green or black patches, an ink blot that grows, or touch stops responding on part of the screen. And sometimes the screen stays completely black while you can still hear the phone vibrate or ring.

On almost all modern phones the glass, the display panel and the touch layer are laminated into one piece at the factory. Replacing only the glass is therefore rarely sensible: separating them is riskier and often dearer than replacing the whole assembly. That is why we replace the complete screen. On many Samsung Galaxy models the screen is also laminated to the frame, and then we fit screen and frame together and rebuild the seal.

For most phones you can choose from several screen qualities, from compatible to original. What the difference is, you can read further down under screen qualities. Face ID lives in the sensor module and not in the screen itself, so we transfer it to your new screen. If your Android phone has a fingerprint reader under the screen, you register your fingers again after the repair and we check together that it responds across the whole surface.

A phone screen is usually done within 30 to 60 minutes, while you wait. Leaving a cracked screen for a long time is not without risk: moisture and dust get in through the cracks, and sharp edges can catch your fingers.

Battery replacement

Average duration in our catalogue: ± 30 minutes

A phone battery wears out. Over time it only lasts half a day on a full charge, the phone switches off by itself while charge seems to be left, or the device gets noticeably slower because it throttles itself to spare the battery. On an iPhone you see battery health in the settings; once it drops under 80%, replacement is usually worth it.

We fit batteries with at least 80% of the original capacity. After the replacement we check the charge cycle and the charging port, because a phone that charges poorly surprisingly often has nothing wrong with its battery and a port full of lint. If you are unsure whether it is the battery, we measure it for free. If it is still good, we say so.

Watch out if your screen or back starts to lift. That is almost always a swollen battery. Turn the phone off, unplug the charger and bring it in as soon as you can. Keeping it on charge makes the swelling worse and can damage the screen or the housing. Never puncture it yourself.

Replacing a battery on a phone usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, while you wait. Your data stays on the phone, because we do not touch the storage.

Charging port repair

Average duration in our catalogue: ± 30 minutes

Does your phone only charge when the cable sits at a certain angle, does the plug fall out, or does nothing happen at all when you connect it? Then the problem is often in the charging port. Before you think of a repair: try another cable and another adapter, and look into the port with a light. Lint from a pocket gets packed down by the plug until there is a wad at the bottom, and then the plug no longer goes in deep enough.

In the shop we test first with a cable and charger we know are good, and we look into the port under magnification. If there is only dirt in it, we clean it carefully and that is the end of it. If the port itself is worn or damaged, we replace it. On most phones the charging port sits on a separate flex cable or a small board, together with the microphone at the bottom.

If the phone still will not charge with a new port, it can be the charging chip on the motherboard. We do that repair too, at component level. Replacing a charging port usually takes about as long as a screen or a battery.

Back glass replacement

Average duration in our catalogue: ± 30 minutes

Many phones have a glass back. That is nice and needed for wireless charging, but it breaks just as easily as the screen. A cracked back looks cosmetic, but through the cracks moisture and dust can reach the battery and the camera, and the sharp edges damage your case or your fingers.

How we replace the back depends on the model. On some phones the glass back is a separate part we take off and replace. On others the glass is bonded to the frame and we replace the back together with the housing. Which of the two yours is, and what it costs, is on that model's page.

After the replacement we rebuild the seal and check wireless charging, the rear camera and the buttons. If the camera lens is cracked as well, say so when you hand it in: that is a separate repair.

Camera repair

Average duration in our catalogue: ± 30 minutes

A camera that will no longer focus, photos that stay blurry, a black image when you open the camera app, or a shaking image with a buzzing sound: those are the signs the camera is faulty. With a cracked camera lens you often see a haze or spots in your photos, even when the camera itself still works.

We repair both the front camera and the rear one. Modern phones often have several cameras on the back, and it happens that only one is faulty, for example the wide angle or the telephoto. We test every camera and replace what is broken. On an iPhone the front camera sits in the same module as Face ID; we pay extra attention to that during the repair.

When we replace the camera, we then check the focus, the flash and the stabilisation, and that the camera works properly in every app.

Water damage

Did your phone fall in the water, in the toilet, in the canal, or stay wet in the rain too long? Then speed decides the outcome. Turn the phone off straight away and leave it off. Do not charge it to see if it still works, because corrosion keeps working as long as there is power on it. Rice removes nothing and only costs you time. Bring it in as soon as you can.

With water damage we open the phone, clean the motherboard and the connectors and measure which parts still work. Only then do you know what is needed. That is why, with water damage, the price is not fixed up front the way it is for a screen or a battery: you hear after the diagnosis what the repair costs before we continue.

A phone that is water resistant is not waterproof forever. The seal ages, and after a drop or an earlier repair it keeps water out less well than it did from the factory. Even when we reseal your phone after a repair, we advise against swimming with it.

Speaker, microphone and no sound

Can you no longer hear the other person while calling, but you can on speaker? Then it is usually the earpiece speaker at the top. Does your ringtone crackle or not sound at all, while the phone is not on silent and not connected to a Bluetooth device? Then the problem is in the speaker at the bottom or behind it. If other people cannot hear you, it can be the microphone.

Before it becomes a repair, it is worth checking a few things: silent mode, the volume, a focus such as Do Not Disturb, Bluetooth and the port at the bottom. Our article about an iPhone with no sound lists those steps. If that does not fix it, we replace the earpiece speaker, and for the loudspeaker or the microphone we first establish for free which part it is.

If no speaker works and the microphone is poor as well, it can be the audio chip on the motherboard. That is component-level work we do ourselves, so your own board and your data stay in the phone.

Face ID, buttons and sensors

If Face ID no longer works, often after a drop, it is usually the sensor module at the top. That is a separate repair with its own price, which you will find on your iPhone model's page. If Face ID stopped working straight after a screen replacement elsewhere, come in as well: sometimes the module was damaged when it was transferred.

We also repair a power button that no longer clicks, a volume button that sticks or a home button that no longer responds. With those buttons it is often a flex cable that is worn or torn. It feels like a small fault, but a phone you can no longer switch on or off properly is awkward, and it is often a quick repair.

Motherboard and component-level repair

Will your phone not turn on, even after a forced restart and half an hour on a good charger? Does it stick on the logo, fail to charge despite a new port, or have no signal or Wi-Fi after a drop or moisture damage? Then the problem is often on the motherboard.

Many repairers only replace complete parts and give up on a faulty board. We also repair at component level: we measure the board and replace the part that is faulty, such as a charging chip, an audio chip or a Wi-Fi chip. That saves a phone that would otherwise be written off, and because your own board stays in the device, your photos and data usually stay too.

Work on the motherboard is not a job to wait for. You leave the phone with us and hear after the diagnosis what is wrong, what it costs and how long it takes, before we start.

Cleaning, headphone jack and small faults

Not every complaint needs a new part. A speaker that sounds quiet or dull, a microphone that makes you hard to understand or a charging port that falters is surprisingly often dirt: lint, sand, dust or skin oil that builds up in the grilles and the port. For a number of phones, such as the iPhone, a professional clean is a separate repair in our catalogue. We clean the port, the grilles and the openings without damaging anything, and then test whether the problem is gone.

If your older phone still has a headphone jack that no longer works, we can look at that too. If it gives no sound or sound on one side only, or the phone keeps thinking headphones are plugged in, the jack is often dirty or worn.

Do not try anything yourself with a paperclip, a needle or anything else made of metal. That pushes dirt further in, can bend the contacts in the port and can cause a short. A dry, soft brush is the only thing you can safely use yourself; we do the rest.

Free diagnosis when you do not know what is wrong

Not every problem is obvious straight away. A phone that just switches off can have a worn battery, but also a faulty charging port or something on the board. A screen that stays black can be the screen, or a phone that is not starting. In those cases we start with a free diagnosis.

We look at the phone, measure what works and what does not, and tell you honestly what is going on and what the repair costs. We only start once you agree. If you decide not to repair, you are under no obligation and you pay nothing. And if a repair is no longer worth it, we say that too.

What does a phone repair cost?

The price of a phone repair depends on two things: your model and the repair. A screen for the newest generation costs more than a screen for a phone a few years old, and on an iPhone it also depends on the screen quality you choose. That is why we do not quote an average price, and show per model what it costs.

The tables below show the current prices from our catalogue for 206 phone models, per brand. For the screen, the price is the most affordable screen quality for that model; on the model page you see every quality side by side. Every amount includes VAT, the part and fitting. A dash means we do not offer that repair as a fixed price for that model.

The price you see is the price you pay. We do not call you halfway through with extra work. Only with water damage and work on the motherboard is that not possible up front, because the price depends on what we find at the diagnosis. You hear that price before we continue.

Screen qualities explained

Where many repairers offer one screen, you can choose with us for most phones. That is not a sales trick: the differences are real, and the right choice depends on your budget and on how long you still want to use the phone. Which qualities are available for your model, and what they cost, is on that model's page.

Compatible

The most affordable option, and fine for everyday use. A compatible screen is an aftermarket display assembly, so not made by your phone's manufacturer. It is a cost-effective alternative, but the colours or the touch can differ slightly from the original.

Refurbished

An original display panel with new glass and a new touch layer. You get the image of the original screen at a sharper price, and it is environmentally friendly reuse of a part that would otherwise be thrown away.

Premium OLED

A high-grade OLED screen with high image quality and a smooth touch, with a new seal where that applies. On a number of iPhones we also offer a premium OLED onto which we transfer the original Apple chip from your own screen, so you do not get a notice that the screen is not original.

Original

Exactly what was originally in your phone. On an iPhone that is an original Apple screen. The dearest option, and the right choice if you want exactly the original image or you want to keep the phone for a long time.

A few rules of thumb help with the choice. If you mainly use your phone for calls, messages and a few photos, and you want to keep it for another year or two, a compatible screen is often a sensible choice. If you watch a lot of video, take a lot of photos or care about colour and brightness, the difference with an OLED or original screen is noticeable. And if you want to sell or trade the phone later, an original screen is the sensible one.

With every quality we replace the complete screen, test the touch across the whole surface, the brightness, the sensors above the screen and the front camera, and you get the same warranty on the working of the part. The difference is in the image, not in how carefully we do the work.

If you are not sure, ask us in the shop. We show you the difference and say honestly which quality we would choose for your phone and the way you use it.

How a repair works at Blue Apple

You can reach us in four ways. Which you choose depends on how quickly you want your phone back and whether you want to come in.

Walk in without an appointment

You can simply walk into our shop at Rijnstraat 76-H. If we have the part in stock, we help you straight away and for a screen or battery you wait in the shop or take a short walk around the neighbourhood.

Book a time online

Pick your brand, your model and the repair, and you see the fixed price straight away. If you book a time, we know which part you need and it is ready when you arrive. You can pay in the shop or online in advance.

Have it collected and brought back

No time to come in? In Amsterdam and the immediate area we collect your phone, repair it in our workshop and bring it back to your home or your work. You choose the day and the time when you book.

How collection and delivery works →

Send it by post

If you live further away, you can send your phone to us safely. After the repair we send it back to the address you give. The service itself is free; you only pay the shipping.

How repair by post works →

What happens when you come in

  1. 1

We look at your phone together

You tell us what is going on and we check it straight away. If it is clear, such as a cracked screen, you hear the price immediately. If it is not clear, we do the free diagnosis first.

  2. 2

    You agree the price

We only start once you agree. The price we agree is the price you pay.

  3. 3

    We repair and test

After the repair we test not only the part we replaced, but the rest as well: touch, cameras, speakers, microphone, charging and the buttons.

  4. 4

    You check and pay

You check your phone with us before you pay. If the repair does not succeed, you pay nothing.

After booking and after the repair

If you book online, you get a confirmation by email straight away with your reference number. Shortly before your appointment we send you a reminder. If the time no longer suits, you can move or cancel the appointment via the link in your confirmation, without having to call.

With your reference number you follow the status of your repair online: whether your phone is being worked on, and when it is ready. Every repair also has a QR code that leads to the same status page. When your phone is ready, we let you know, so you do not come in for nothing.

When you collect it you check with us that everything works. You pay then, if you pay in the shop, and you get an invoice with the repair, the device, the amount and the VAT. Keep that invoice: it makes the warranty on the part easy to find later.

Track Order →

Warranty, free diagnosis and no cure, no pay

On the part we fit, you get a lifetime warranty on it working, for as long as you keep the phone. If the screen, the battery or the charging port we fitted fails without anything having happened to it, we put that right. The warranty covers our part and not the whole phone: new drop or moisture damage is outside it, as is work where nothing is replaced.

No cure, no pay means you only pay if the repair succeeds. If we find something when we open your phone that means the repair cannot be done, you pay nothing for the repair. And the diagnosis is always free, even if you then decide not to repair.

A fixed price up front, a free diagnosis and a warranty on the part: together they mean you are never faced with a surprise. You know the price, the turnaround and the warranty before you book.

If you do have a problem after a repair, just come in with your phone. We look at whether it is our part and put it right if it is. If it is something else, for example new drop damage or another part giving up, we say so honestly and you hear what a repair of that costs before we do anything.

Brands we repair

We repair the phones that are used most in Amsterdam, and a fair number that are less common. If your brand or model is not listed here, call us with the type number: the odds are good that we can do it.

iPhone repair

iPhone is the brand we repair most, from the older models to the newest generation. Besides screen, battery, charging port, camera and back we also repair Face ID, the buttons, the earpiece speaker and faults on the motherboard, such as the charging chip, the audio chip and the Wi-Fi chip. For the screen you choose from compatible, refurbished, premium OLED and original Apple. On a number of iPhones you can also choose a premium OLED onto which we transfer the original Apple chip from your own screen, so you do not get a notice that the screen is not original. Newer iPhones show a notice like that in the settings when a part has been fitted that Apple does not recognise; that says nothing about how the part works, but it is good to know up front. You find your iPhone's model number in Settings, General, About.

Samsung repair

After Apple, Samsung is the brand we have on the bench most often, from the Galaxy S and A series to the folding Z Fold and Z Flip. Two Samsung devices with almost the same name can use a different screen, so we work from the type number and not from the name on the box. On most Galaxy models we fit the screen together with the frame. A folding inner screen is a different kind of repair, and for that you get a free diagnosis first. If the fingerprint reader on your model sits under the screen, it belongs with the new panel and you register your fingers again after the repair; we do that with you before you leave. When we close it up we rebuild the water seal in the same step.

Google Pixel repair

We repair the Google Pixel, including the Pro models: screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage. For the screen you can choose from several qualities on most models. If your Pixel has a fingerprint reader under the screen, you register your fingers again after a screen replacement.

Xiaomi repair

For Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO we repair screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage. Xiaomi releases many models with similar names, so here too we work from the type number. You find that in the settings under About phone.

OnePlus repair

We repair the Nord series and the flagship models from OnePlus: screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage, with a choice of screen qualities.

Huawei repair

For the well-known P and Mate models from Huawei we repair screen, battery, charging port, cameras, earpiece speaker and water damage. Even if your Huawei is a bit older, a repair is often a good deal cheaper than a replacement.

Motorola repair

We repair Motorola phones, including screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage. If you have a folding Razr, the inner screen is a different repair from a flat screen, and it starts with a free diagnosis.

Oppo repair

For Oppo we repair screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage, with a choice of screen qualities for most models.

Realme repair

We repair Realme phones too: screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage.

Nothing Phone repair

We repair the Nothing Phone as well, including screen, battery, charging port, cameras, back and water damage. When we open the models that have lights on the back, we take extra care with that lighting.

Fairphone repair

Fairphone is designed to be repaired, with parts you can replace. If you would rather not do it yourself or you are not sure what is wrong, we replace the screen, the battery, the charging port, the cameras or the back for you.

Reachable from anywhere in Amsterdam

Our workshop is at Rijnstraat 76-H, 1079 HK Amsterdam, in the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam Zuid. Amsterdam RAI station is walking distance and tram 4 runs along the Rijnstraat, so from the centre you are at the door quickly. By bike you are there from De Pijp, Oud-Zuid, the Zuidas and Buitenveldert in a few minutes to a quarter of an hour.

If you work on the Zuidas, you are a bike ride away: many people drop their phone off in the lunch break or on the way home, and collect it after the repair. From De Pijp and Oud-Zuid it is a short trip by bike or tram 4. And if you come by train or metro, you get off at Amsterdam RAI station and walk to the Rijnstraat.

If you live or work in another part of the city, such as Amsterdam Noord, West, Oost or Nieuw-West, it is usually easier to have your phone collected. We collect it in Amsterdam and the immediate area, repair it in the workshop and bring it back to your home or office. Then you do not have to cross the city twice. If you live outside Amsterdam, you can send your phone by post.

For the neighbourhoods around the shop we have separate pages with the route and the frequently asked questions per neighbourhood:

Per district: the easiest way to get a repair

Amsterdam Zuid

You are close to the shop. From the Rivierenbuurt, De Pijp, Oud-Zuid, the Zuidas and Buitenveldert you are there by bike in a few minutes to a quarter of an hour. For a screen or battery you wait in the shop or take a short walk around the neighbourhood.

Centre

Tram 4 runs from the centre to the Rijnstraat, so coming in is usually the quickest. If you do not want to be without your phone during the working day, you can also have it collected at work and brought back.

Oost

From Oost you are in the Rivierenbuurt quickly by bike. If you cannot get away, we collect your phone and bring it back repaired, so you do not have to go back and forth.

West and Nieuw-West

From West and Nieuw-West it is a longer trip. For a quick repair you come in; for a repair you would have to leave anyway, such as water damage or work on the motherboard, collection and return is often easier.

Noord

From Noord you come in or have your phone collected. Especially for repairs that take longer, collection and return saves you crossing the city twice.

Zuidoost and outside Amsterdam

If you live in Zuidoost, Amstelveen or further away, see whether collection is possible for you, or send your phone by post. After the repair we send it back to the address you give.

Repair or replace?

A new phone is expensive, and most faults can be repaired for a fraction of that price. A new battery or a new screen in a phone a few years old often gives you years more use. That is also better for the environment: most of a phone's impact is in making it, not in using it.

A useful rule of thumb: look at what you still want from the phone. If it otherwise works well, still gets updates and you want to keep it for another year or two, a new battery or a new screen is almost always the sensible spend. A phone that lasts the whole day again after a battery replacement often feels like a new device. And you keep your own phone, with all your settings and apps, without transferring everything.

Even so, repairing is not always the sensible choice. If your phone is already old, no longer gets software updates and the repair is expensive, your money may be better spent on a replacement. We say that honestly. You can make that decision with real information, because the diagnosis is free and you hear the price up front.

If you want a replacement but not a new device, also look at our refurbished devices. Those have been checked, cleaned and tested by our own technicians before they went on sale.

Refurbished devices →

Repairing is more sustainable than replacing

A phone contains scarce raw materials, and most of its environmental impact comes from making it, not from using it. Every extra year you keep your phone is a new device that does not have to be made, packed and shipped.

That is why, with every repair, we look first at what is actually needed. A charging port full of lint we clean instead of replace. A battery that is still good we leave in place and we tell you. And with a faulty board we replace the one part that is broken, instead of the whole board. Our refurbished screens are reuse too: an original display panel that gets a second life with new glass.

Before you come in

Make a backup

With a screen, battery or charging-port repair your data stays on your phone. Make a backup anyway via iCloud, Google or your computer, simply because that is sensible with any device that gets opened. With water damage or a phone that will no longer start, the state of the storage is uncertain.

Look up your model

Not sure exactly which model you have? On an iPhone you find it in Settings, General, About. On an Android phone it is in the settings under About phone. If you can no longer see anything on the screen, we look it up with you in the shop.

Take the case and screen protector off

That saves time and stops your case getting damaged. A cracked screen protector can also be the reason touch works poorly, and then it costs you nothing.

Book if you want to be sure

Walking in is always possible. If you want to be sure the part is ready for you, book a time online.

Bring your cable if it will not charge

If your phone does not charge properly, bring the cable and the adapter you use at home. Then we test straight away whether it is the phone or your charger, and that sometimes saves you a repair.

Tell us what happened

Was the phone dropped, did it get wet, or was it repaired before? Say so when you hand it in. That helps us find the right cause faster, and it prevents surprises when we open the phone.

Frequently asked questions about phone repair in Amsterdam

How long does a phone repair take?
A screen on a phone is usually done within 30 to 60 minutes, a battery usually within 20 to 30 minutes, and you can wait for that in the shop. A charging port or camera takes about as long. Water damage and work on the motherboard take longer, because the phone first has to be cleaned and measured; you hear a realistic estimate of that up front.
Do I need an appointment?
No, you can simply walk in at Rijnstraat 76-H. Booking a time online does have one advantage: then we know which part you need and it is ready when you arrive.
What does a phone repair in Amsterdam cost?
That depends on your model and the repair. The tables on this page show the current prices per model, and on your model's page you see every repair with the fixed price. Every amount includes VAT, the part and fitting.
Are the prices fixed?
Yes. The price you see up front is the price you pay, and it does not change along the way. Only with water damage and motherboard repairs does the price depend on what we find at the diagnosis, and you hear that before we continue.
What warranty do I get?
A lifetime warranty on the working of the part we replace, for as long as you keep the phone. New drop or moisture damage is outside it, as is work where nothing is replaced.
What if the repair does not succeed?
Then you pay nothing. We work on no cure, no pay: you only pay if the repair succeeds.
Will my data be kept?
With a screen, battery or charging-port repair we do not touch your storage and everything stays on your phone. Make a backup anyway beforehand, especially with water damage or a phone that will no longer start.
Can only the glass of my screen be replaced?
On most modern phones, no. Glass, display panel and touch layer are laminated into one piece, and separating them is riskier and often dearer than replacing the whole assembly. We look for free and say honestly what is sensible in your case.
Does Face ID still work after a screen repair?
Yes. Face ID lives in the sensor module and not in the screen itself, so we transfer it to your new screen. If Face ID itself is faulty, that is a separate repair.
Which brands do you repair?
iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Motorola, Oppo, Realme, Nothing and Fairphone among others. We also repair tablets, laptops, smartwatches, headphones and games consoles.
My model is not on the list, can you still repair it?
Often, yes. Call us with the type number from the settings, and we look up what the part costs and how soon it will be here before you come in.
Can you collect my phone?
Yes. In Amsterdam and the immediate area we collect your phone and bring it back repaired. You choose that service while booking, and you see the cost there too.
Can I send my phone in?
Yes. You send it safely to our shop and after the repair we send it back to the address you give. The service is free; you only pay the shipping.
My phone fell in the water, what should I do?
Turn it off straight away, do not charge it and bring it in as soon as you can. Corrosion keeps working as long as there is power on it, and rice does not help. The sooner the phone is with us, the better the chance we can save it.
My screen or back is lifting, is that dangerous?
That is almost always a swollen battery. Stop charging, stop using the phone and bring it in. Never puncture it yourself.
Where are you in Amsterdam?
At Rijnstraat 76-H, 1079 HK Amsterdam, in the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam Zuid. Amsterdam RAI station is walking distance and tram 4 runs along the Rijnstraat.
How do I pay?
In the shop you pay cash, with your debit card or contactless. If you book online, you can also pay in advance via iDEAL, credit card or another method.
Do you also repair tablets and laptops?
Yes. We repair iPads, Samsung tablets and MacBooks among others. You usually leave a tablet or laptop with us, because the work takes longer than on a phone; you hear when it will be ready as you hand it in.
Which screen quality should I choose?
That depends on your budget and how long you still want to use the phone. Compatible is the most affordable option and fine for everyday use. Refurbished and premium OLED sit between that and original on price and image quality. If you want exactly what was originally in it, choose original. In the shop we show you the difference.
Can I wait for my repair?
For a screen or battery in a phone, yes, provided we have the part in stock. You can stay in the shop or walk around the neighbourhood. For water damage, work on the motherboard, a tablet or a laptop you leave the device with us.
How do I know which phone model I have?
On an iPhone you find it in Settings, General, About. On an Android phone it is in the settings under About phone. If your screen no longer works, bring the phone in: we look it up together.
Is a repair still worth it on an older phone?
Often, yes. A new battery or a new screen in a phone a few years old usually gives you years more use for a fraction of the price of a new device. If your phone no longer gets software updates and the repair is expensive, we say honestly that your money is better spent on a replacement.
What happens to my privacy during the repair?
With a screen, battery or charging-port repair we do not need to look at your data. After the repair we test the phone's functions, such as touch, cameras, speakers and charging. Make a backup beforehand, so your data is safe either way.
Can I still charge wirelessly after the repair?
Yes. If we replace the back or open the phone for another repair, we also check wireless charging afterwards.
Is my phone still water resistant after the repair?
When we close it we fit a new seal, because reusing old adhesive is how a phone later lets moisture in anyway. Even so, a phone that has been opened no longer keeps water out the way it did from the factory. So do not go swimming with it just because it looks new again.
Does my fingerprint reader still work after a new screen?
Yes, but on phones with the reader under the screen you have to register your fingers again, because the sensor belongs with the screen. Before you leave, we check together that it responds across the whole surface.
Can I move or cancel my appointment?
Yes. The confirmation email of your booking has a link with which you move or cancel the appointment. Calling is fine too, of course.
Can I follow the status of my repair?
Yes. With the reference number from your confirmation you follow online whether your phone is still being worked on or is already ready.
Do I get a reminder for my appointment?
Yes. If you booked a time online, we send you a reminder by email shortly beforehand.
What is the difference between a compatible and an original screen?
An original screen is exactly what was in your phone. A compatible screen is an aftermarket display assembly: more affordable and fine for everyday use, but the colours or the touch can differ slightly. Refurbished and premium OLED sit between the two.
Should I come in, have my phone collected or send it?
If you live or work in or around Amsterdam Zuid, or you want your phone back the same day, come in: for a screen or battery you wait for it. If you cannot get away during the day, or it is a repair you would have to leave anyway, have it collected. If you live outside Amsterdam, sending it by post is the most convenient.
Do you work with original parts?
Where it is possible, you can choose. For most screens we offer compatible, refurbished and premium OLED alongside original, so you choose between price and image quality yourself. Which options exist for your model is on that model's page.
Is it safe to have a phone with a swollen battery repaired?
Yes, if you bring it in quickly and stop charging it. We take a swollen battery out with the right precautions and fit a new one. Do not keep using it or charging it, and never puncture it yourself: that is what can make it dangerous.
Are you open on Sunday?
No, we are closed on Sunday. The current opening hours are on this page and at the bottom of every page on the site. If you still want to come at a set time, book a time online on a day we are open.
Do I get an invoice for the repair?
Yes. You get an invoice with the repair, the device, the amount and the VAT. If you gave an email address, we can email it to you as well.
Can I get a quote for a repair that is not on the list?
Yes. Call or send us a message with your model and what is wrong, or come in for the free diagnosis. You hear the price before we do anything.
Does the factory warranty lapse if I have my phone repaired by you?
If your phone still has a factory warranty and the fault is covered by it, for example a manufacturing fault without drop damage, look first at what the manufacturer or the shop where you bought it can do for you. With drop damage or moisture damage the factory warranty usually covers nothing, and then a repair with us is often the quickest route.
Do you have the parts in stock?
For the common models, usually yes, and then we help you straight away. If you book online, we know in advance which part you need. For less common models we order the part and you hear up front how long that takes.
Do you repair folding phones?
Yes, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip and the Motorola Razr. The inner screen folds and sits on a hinge, so that is a different kind of repair from a flat screen, and dearer. If you see a line or a dead band on the fold, come in for a free diagnosis.
