The number first, then the part

Starting from the type number rather than the name on the box sounds like a detail, but in practice it saves you a week. Order by name and there is a real chance the part almost fits: the connector sits a couple of millimetres out, or the camera cut-out does not line up. So we always spend those five minutes first. Being straight about the sums matters here too: Xiaomi puts a lot of technology into relatively inexpensive phones, and with a screen in a handset a few years old the question is not only whether it is possible but whether it is worth it. We will tell you when that money is better spent on a replacement.

Our workshop is on Rijnstraat 76-H in the Rivierenbuurt, walking distance from Amsterdam RAI station and close to the Zuidas, De Pijp and Oud-Zuid. Where do I find the type number of my Xiaomi?

In settings under the information about your phone, and on many models also on the label behind the SIM tray. Send us that number rather than the name: variants with different parts exist under the same name, and with the number we know for certain which part fits.

Do you have parts for Redmi and POCO?

For the common models, screens, batteries and charging ports are in stock. For less common devices we order the part, and you hear in advance how many days that takes. We will not take your phone in only to call you a week later with a lead time.

How long does a Xiaomi repair take?

If the part is ready, a screen or battery is usually about 30 minutes while you wait. If something has to be ordered, or the work is on the board, it is workshop work and you hear what that costs in time at the diagnosis.

Is a repair worth it on a cheaper phone?

With a battery or a charging port, almost always, because those are small amounts against a new handset. With a screen in a phone a few years old it is a genuine judgement call. We will work it through with you honestly and simply say so if we would choose a replacement ourselves.

Is there a warranty?

There is a lifetime warranty on the part we fit. If you notice anything afterwards about what we replaced, you come back and we look at it again, with no argument about the price we agreed up front.
