Replacing the battery in your iPhone 13 Pro Max
An iPhone battery wears a little with every charge. Once battery health drops below 80%, Apple considers it worn out. You notice it in an iPhone that is flat by the afternoon, shuts down in the cold while it still seems to have some percent left, or slows down because iOS throttles performance to protect the battery.
The iPhone 13 range got noticeably bigger batteries than the 12. That is exactly why you notice when it no longer lasts the day after a few years. A new battery brings that long battery life back.
How to check your battery
- Go to Settings → Battery → Battery Health. If maximum capacity is below 80%, or you see the "Service" message, it is time.
- If your iPhone shuts down while it still shows charge, the battery is often more worn than the percentage suggests.
- Is the screen bulging or lifting at the edge? Then the battery has swollen. Stop charging and bring it in straight away.
Good to know up front
After the replacement, iOS may show a message in Settings that the battery is not recognised as a genuine Apple part. Your iPhone works fully; we would rather tell you now than afterwards. Your data stays on the phone during the repair.
