What each repair involves
Blue Apple battery — DJI Flip € 89,00
A lithium battery loses a little capacity with every charge cycle, and after a few years the problem is not only how long it lasts. It can no longer deliver the peak current the device asks for, so it cuts out under a heavy app or in the cold even though the percentage says otherwise. If the battery also swells it pushes against the screen or the case from the inside, and then leaving it costs you a second part.
You might notice
- The battery drains much faster than it used to
- It shuts down suddenly with charge left
- It only works while plugged in
- It gets warm while charging
- The screen or the back is starting to lift
What we check first
The battery is measured out rather than replaced on the strength of the complaint. If it turns out to be healthy we tell you that, because a device that drains fast can also be a worn charging port or something running in the background.
Tested before you get it back
Charging from empty · Behaviour under load · The device holds a charge while idle
Charging port — DJI Flip € 85,00
A port that will not charge is surprisingly often not broken. Lint from a pocket or a bag gets pressed further in by the plug every time until there is a hard plug of it at the bottom, and then the cable cannot seat deeply enough to make contact. Where the port itself has failed it is sometimes a separate part and sometimes soldered to the board, and that changes both the price and how long it takes.
You might notice
- It only charges if the cable is held at a certain angle
- It has stopped charging altogether
- The cable falls out on its own
- It says there is liquid in the connector
What we check first
First a cable and an adapter we know are good, because the fault is in one of those often enough to matter. Then the port under magnification, for debris, bent contacts and corrosion. If cleaning is all it needs, that is all we do.
Tested before you get it back
Charging with our cable and with yours · The cable holds without being propped up · Data transfer where the port carries it
Back cover / housing — DJI Flip € 85,00
From outside it is a sheet of glass; from inside it is a structural layer with the antennas and, on devices that support it, the wireless charging coil pressed against it. Getting it off means heat and controlled pressure without disturbing those, and they are transferred to the new panel. One thing we say in advance: a device that has been opened is never sealed quite as well as it was from the factory.
You might notice
- The back glass is cracked
- Glass splinters are coming loose
- Wireless charging has stopped working
What we check first
Whether the back is a separate panel on this model or part of the frame, because on some devices that means replacing more than the glass. You hear which before a price is agreed.
Tested before you get it back
Wireless charging where the device has it · Mobile and Wi-Fi signal · Fresh sealing fitted
Gimbal / camera unit — DJI Flip € 99,00
A gimbal holds the camera level with small motors, and it is the most exposed part of any drone or pocket camera. Sand in the bearing, a knock that bends the arm, or a torn ribbon inside the moving joint all produce the same complaint, and all three are repairable without replacing the whole device. On a phone gimbal there is no camera in it at all — the motors, the arm and the electronics are the whole assembly.
You might notice
- The camera sits crooked or cannot find level
- It whines, buzzes or hunts back and forth
- The picture shakes although stabilisation is on
- The gimbal does not move at all
What we check first
Whether the movement is mechanically obstructed, which cleaning fixes, before anything is replaced. It is the cheaper answer often enough to be worth ruling out first.
Tested before you get it back
It finds level on startup · It holds the horizon while you move · Motors run quiet through the full range
Motor & propeller — DJI Flip € 89,00
After a crash the motor that took grit through it is often the problem rather than the arm that looks bent. A worn or contaminated motor draws more current for the same lift, so the drone fights itself, drifts, and eats a flight battery early. Motors and propellers are stocked parts on these aircraft and are replaced as a set per arm where the wear is uneven.
You might notice
- A motor sounds rough, grinds or is louder than the others
- The drone pulls to one side or will not hold level
- One propeller does not spin up with the rest
- It refuses to take off and reports a motor error
What we check first
Each motor by hand for roughness and play, then current draw across all of them, because the quiet fault is a motor that still spins but pulls too much.
Tested before you get it back
All motors spin free and even · A hover with no drift · Current draw matched across the arms
Landing gear & arm — DJI Flip € 85,00
Arms and landing gear are what a drone lands and crashes on, so they are meant to be the parts that give. A cracked arm changes the angle the motor pulls at, which the aircraft tries to correct by working harder — so this is worth fixing even when it still flies. Most arms, hinges and legs are replaceable parts rather than part of the shell.
You might notice
- An arm is bent, cracked or loose at the hinge
- It sits crooked when folded out
- A leg or foot broke off in a hard landing
- It wobbles or vibrates in flight
What we check first
Every hinge for play, the arms for hairline cracks that only show under light, and whether the shell where the arm mounts survived the same impact.
Tested before you get it back
Arms lock straight and firm when unfolded · A hover with no vibration · It sits level on the ground
GPS & compass module — DJI Flip € 89,00
Position hold and return to home both depend on the drone knowing where it is and which way it faces. A damaged compass or GPS module, or an aerial disturbed in a crash, leaves the aircraft guessing — which is why it wanders in a hover and why return to home becomes something you cannot trust. Worth taking seriously rather than flying around: this is the fault that loses drones.
You might notice
- It drifts instead of holding position
- It keeps asking for a compass calibration
- Return to home goes to the wrong place, or not at all
- It takes a very long time to find satellites
What we check first
Satellite count and lock time, compass readings through a full turn, and whether interference is coming from a loose aerial or the module itself.
Tested before you get it back
A steady hover with no drift · Compass holds calibration · Return to home lands where it should
Flight controller — DJI Flip € 99,00
The flight controller is the board that reads the sensors and drives the motors, so when it fails the drone often looks healthy right up to the moment it should fly. An IMU error that comes back after every calibration, or a drone that arms once and then refuses, usually points here rather than at a sensor.
You might notice
- It powers up but will not arm or take off
- It restarts by itself, or in mid-air
- The app reports sensor or IMU errors that survive calibration
- It flies but will not respond properly to the sticks
What we check first
Whether the fault is the board or a sensor feeding it, since those produce nearly identical errors and are not the same repair. Impact and moisture damage on the board itself is looked for first.
Tested before you get it back
It arms reliably from cold · Sensors read correctly without recalibration · A full hover and stick check before it goes back
Water damage — DJI Flip € 95,00
The water is rarely what finishes a device — corrosion is. While there is voltage on a board with liquid between its layers, current flows where it should not and the traces eat themselves. That is why switching it off comes before everything else, and why charging it to see whether it still works is the worst thing you can do. Rice and a hairdryer move moisture around rather than removing it, and coffee, beer or seawater leave salt and sugar that keep working after the surface is dry. We open the device, clean the board, remove the corrosion and measure the circuits to find what has been affected. We will not promise an outcome: what can be saved depends on what went in, how long it stayed powered, and what it reached. You hear the honest odds after the free diagnosis, and if you say no it has cost you nothing.
You might notice
- It went in water or something was spilled on it
- It worked after drying and then stopped
- It says there is liquid in the connector
- It has been behaving oddly since it got wet
What we check first
How far the liquid travelled, which components show corrosion, and whether the storage is still readable. That assessment is the diagnosis, and it is free.
Tested before you get it back
Everything the liquid reached · Charging and battery behaviour · Cameras, speakers and microphones · Wi-Fi and mobile signal
Logic board — DJI Flip € 99,00
Most workshops swap complete assemblies and send a board fault somewhere else. We measure the board, trace the failure to the component causing it and replace that — a shorted power rail after liquid, a burnt-out charging chip after a bad adapter, a damaged backlight circuit that leaves you reading the screen by torchlight. It is soldering under a microscope on parts the size of a grain of sand and it takes longer than anything else here. What it buys you is that your own board stays in the device, and with it, usually, your data.
You might notice
- It shows no sign of life
- It will not charge and a new battery did not help
- The screen stays black but you can hear it running
- It restarts on its own or gets very hot
What we check first
Whether power is arriving and where it stops, before anything is said about the board — a dead battery, a broken port and a failed screen all look identical from the outside, and all are cheaper.
Tested before you get it back
It starts and stays running · Charging from empty · The board temperature under load · The storage is still readable
Cleaning — DJI Flip € 79,00
Dust in a speaker mesh, lint in a charging port and a cooler full of fluff all produce complaints that look like faults. A clean is the cheapest thing on this page and it is worth trying before anything is replaced, because often enough it is the whole repair.
You might notice
- The speakers sound muffled
- There is dust or lint in the ports
- It runs hotter or louder than it used to
What we check first
The ports, meshes and cooling under magnification, and whether cleaning is likely to solve it or only to help.
Tested before you get it back
Speaker and microphone clarity · Charging seats properly · Temperatures where cooling was cleaned
Before you bring it in
None of this is required — you can walk in without doing any of it. It just makes the visit shorter and, in one case, protects your device.
- 1 Back up if you still can, through iCloud, a computer or whatever you normally use. Most repairs leave your storage untouched, but a device that has already taken a knock is exactly the one you want a copy of.
- 2 Bring it charged if it still powers on. A device with some charge can be tested properly before and after the work, which saves a second visit.
- 3 Take off the case and any screen protector, and bring them with you rather than leaving them on.
- 4 If the complaint is about charging, bring your own cable and adapter. The fault is in one of those often enough that it is worth five minutes to rule them out.
- 5 Know your passcode, and your Apple ID or Google account details if the device asks for them. We cannot test a repair on a device nobody can unlock.
- 6 If liquid has been involved, switch the device off and leave it off — do not charge it to see whether it still works. Corrosion keeps going while there is voltage on the board, so every hour counts. Rice does nothing.
- 7 If the screen or the back is lifting, or the device no longer sits flat, stop charging it and bring it in. That is a swelling battery, and using it makes the damage spread to parts that were fine.
How the repair works
-
1
Free diagnosis
We establish what is actually wrong rather than what it looks like, because a device that will not charge and a device that will not turn on often have the same cause and different fixes.
-
2
Price and options first
You hear what it costs and, where there is a choice of part, what each one means, before anything is opened. If we think the repair is not worth it, we say so then.
-
3
The repair
On a phone, most of the common jobs are done while you wait. A tablet, laptop, watch or console is left with us, and you are told at drop-off roughly how long it will be.
-
4
Testing
The part we fitted is tested, and so is everything around it that the work could have disturbed.
-
5
Collection
Come and get it, or have it collected and returned if you would rather not make the trip. Whatever we replaced carries a warranty, set out in our terms.
What we test before you get it back
Only the things the work could have affected. A list of everything on the device would look thorough and mean nothing.

Repair or replace?
Repairing usually makes sense when
- The device works apart from the one thing that is broken.
- A single part is at fault, and it is one that comes off on its own.
- The repair costs a fraction of a replacement.
- You want to keep this device, and what is on it.
Worth a diagnosis before deciding when
- Several things are wrong at once, which often means one underlying cause.
- Liquid has been involved, because what can be saved depends on what the board looks like inside.
- The fault is on the board, where the work is longer and the outcome is less predictable.
- The physical damage is extensive — a bent frame or a case that no longer closes changes what is possible.
We will not tell you to repair something that is not worth repairing. On an older device with an expensive part, the honest answer is sometimes to put the money towards a replacement, and you will hear that from us.
Why bring a DJI Flip to Blue Apple
The price before the work
Your model has a price per repair on this page. Where a price cannot be known in advance — liquid damage, board-level faults — you get it after the free diagnosis, and it does not move afterwards.
Board-level repair
Most workshops swap whole assemblies and send a board fault elsewhere. We trace the fault to the component and replace that, which is cheaper and keeps your own board, and usually your own data, in the device.
A choice of part where one exists
Where more than one quality of screen or battery is available for your model, you choose, and you see the price of each before deciding.
An honest no
When a repair costs more than the device is worth, or the odds are poor, we tell you before you commit. The diagnosis is free either way.
