Knowing what to expect makes handing over your MacBook a lot easier. Below is how a repair at Blue Apple in Amsterdam goes, from the first question to the moment you have it back in your hands. That way you know beforehand what you have to do and what we do.
Step 1: choose how to bring your MacBook
- Come by. You bring it to our workshop at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam.
- Collection and delivery. If you cannot come, we collect your MacBook and bring it back. See pickup and delivery.
- Send it in. If you live outside Amsterdam you can send it by post. See repair by post.
Step 2: plan your repair or ask for a quote
If you know what is wrong, look up your model on the MacBook page, choose the repair and plan an appointment. If you do not know, or your fault is not listed, ask for a quote or get in touch: describe what you see and what happened before the problem. More about what we repair is on MacBook repair in Amsterdam.
Step 3: prepare your MacBook
Make a backup, check whether you still have cover and keep your passwords at hand. A short checklist of what you can do is in preparing your MacBook for a repair.
Step 4: the diagnosis
We start by measuring instead of guessing. Depending on your complaint we check whether power comes in, whether the MacBook charges, the state of the battery, whether the screen and backlight work, whether the storage is recognised and whether there are signs of liquid or corrosion. For a Mac that will not start or turn on those are different checks than for a cracked screen.
Step 5: you hear what is wrong, and what the options are
Only when the diagnosis is done do we explain what is going on and what the options are. Sometimes it is simple, sometimes there are several qualities of parts or several routes. Where it is not certain that a repair will work, for example after liquid, we say so. You decide: nothing is repaired without your approval.
Step 6: repair and test
After your approval we carry out the repair and then test not only the part that was replaced but the whole Mac: startup, charging, screen, keyboard, trackpad, ports, sound and camera. A repair often solves one thing and sometimes reveals a second; you hear about such a second finding from us before you get your MacBook back.
Step 7: collection or delivery
If you come to collect it, go through a short list with us: does it start, do the keyboard and trackpad work, does it charge, do the ports, the screen and the sound work? If we deliver it, check it yourself as soon as you have it. Something not right? Tell us straight away and we will look at it.
How long does it take?
That depends on the repair and on whether we have the part in stock. A battery or keyboard is a different kind of job than a logic board fault. We tell you what to expect before we start, and let you know if that changes.
What if extra damage turns up?
Then you hear about it before we go on: what we found, what it means and what the options are. We do nothing without your approval.
