Bang & Olufsen Beosound and Beolab repair in Amsterdam

A Beosound that will not power on, worn fabric covers, a weak battery or a Beolab with a failed amplifier: what usually fails and what can be repaired.

Bang & Olufsen Beosound and Beolab repair in Amsterdam

Bang & Olufsen speakers are as much furniture as electronics, with fabric covers, wood, aluminium and touch controls. They are designed to last, and when they do fail, the cause is usually an electronic part, a battery or a worn cover rather than the speaker as a whole.

Blue Apple repairs Bang & Olufsen speakers at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the sound systems repair page.

What usually goes wrong with Bang & Olufsen speakers

  • Will not power on or keeps cutting out. A speaker that is dead, or that switches off under load, points at the power supply or the amplifier.
  • Touch controls or proximity sensors that stop responding. The top panels and the sensors that wake the speaker can fail while the sound is fine.
  • Portable battery that no longer lasts. The Beosound A5 and Level run on batteries that fade with charging cycles and heat.
  • Fabric covers that stain, fray or tear. Covers on the A9 and others can be replaced; a worn cover does not mean a worn speaker.
  • Rattle, buzz or one driver that is silent. A damaged woofer or tweeter, or an amplifier channel that has failed, in the Beolab and the bigger Beosound models.

Repair or replace?

B&O products are expensive new and hold their value, so repair is usually the right answer. We look at the part that failed, whether it can be repaired or replaced, and what it costs before we start. Where a product is old enough that parts are scarce, we say so honestly.

Looking after your Beosound

  • Vacuum fabric covers gently. Do not use wet cleaners; they stain and shrink the fabric.
  • Keep them away from heat and damp. A radiator or a damp room shortens the life of the electronics.
  • Charge portable models regularly. A battery left empty for months ages faster.
