A Bose soundbar sits under the TV for years and does one job: make the dialogue clear and the bass felt. When it stops, the cause is usually one of a handful of faults, and some of them are cheaper to fix than a new soundbar by a wide margin.
Blue Apple repairs Bose soundbars and subwoofers at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the sound systems repair page.
What usually goes wrong with Bose soundbars and subwoofers
- No sound from the TV over HDMI ARC. First check the cable, the ARC port on the TV and the TV's audio output setting. If those are right and the soundbar still stays silent, the HDMI board in the soundbar may be the fault.
- Will not switch on, or switches off by itself. A soundbar that is dead or cuts out points at the power supply or the main board.
- Wireless bass module that will not connect. Re-pairing comes first. If the module powers up but never connects, or loses the link, the wireless section or its board can be at fault.
- Distortion or rattling at volume. A driver that has been damaged or a loose part inside the bar or the bass module.
- Buzz or hum from a bass module. An amplifier fault, or a driver that is failing.
The Bose models we repair

Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar, Bose Smart Soundbar, Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer, Bose Bass Module 700, Bose Bass Module 500.
Repair or replace?
A repair is usually worth it for a Smart Ultra or Lifestyle Ultra soundbar or a Bass Module 700, where a board or driver costs far less than a new system. For an older, cheaper soundbar with several faults, replacing may be sensible, and we say so after the diagnosis.
Looking after your Bose soundbar
- Give the soundbar room to breathe. A closed cabinet makes the electronics run hot.
- Use a surge protector. It protects both the soundbar and the bass module.
- Keep the bass module away from walls and damp. Moisture and heat are the enemies of the amplifier.

Questions about Bose repair
Can you repair a Bose bass module separately?
Yes. The Bass Module 500 and 700 and the Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer are on the sound systems page.
My Bose soundbar has no sound over HDMI. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. Try another HDMI cable and the correct ARC port first. If it still stays silent, we check the HDMI board.
