KEF speaker repair in Amsterdam: LSX II and LS50 Wireless II

A KEF that powers up with no sound, a pair that has lost its link, a hum from a subwoofer or a dead touch panel: what usually fails and what can be repaired.

KEF speaker repair in Amsterdam: LSX II and LS50 Wireless II

KEF wireless speakers put the amplifier, the streamer and the controls inside the cabinet, which is why one fault can stop the whole system. They are built to a high standard and last long, but when something inside fails, a general electronics shop is usually not the place to go. These are the faults we are asked about.

Blue Apple repairs KEF speakers and subwoofers at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the sound systems repair page.

What usually goes wrong with KEF speakers and subwoofers

  • Powers up but gives no sound. In the LSX II and LS50 Wireless II the main speaker holds the amplifier, the DSP and the network board. A speaker that lights up and stays silent can be an amplifier or DSP fault.
  • Pair has lost its link. The two speakers talk to each other over a cable or a wireless link. When one stays silent or the pairing keeps dropping, the link board or the connection can be at fault.
  • Will not power on. A dead speaker points at the power supply or the main board.
  • Hum, buzz or distortion from a subwoofer. A failing amplifier or a driver damaged by too much volume or moisture.
  • Touch controls or lights that stop working. The panel on top of the main speaker can fail while the sound is fine.

The KEF models we repair

Every model below has its own page, with the repairs we offer for it and what each one costs.

KEF LSX II, KEF LS50 Wireless II, KEF LSX II LT, KEF XIO, KEF LS60 Wireless, KEF KC92, KEF KC62, KEF LS Luxe, KEF Coda W, KEF Kube 12 MIE, KEF Kube 15 MIE.

Repair or replace?

KEF speakers are worth repairing: a failed board is a fraction of the price of a new LS50 Wireless II or LSX II, and the drivers and cabinets are built to last. We tell you after the diagnosis whether the fault is in one of the speakers or the pair, and what it costs.

Looking after your KEF speaker

  • Give them room. Keep a few centimetres of air behind the speakers, especially the main one that holds the electronics.
  • Use a surge protector. A power spike is how amplifier boards usually die.
  • Keep the volume sensible. Driving a small speaker hard for long stretches stresses the amplifier and the drivers.

Questions about KEF repair

Do you repair the KEF subwoofers and the Kube?

Yes, KC62, KC92, Kube 12 MIE and Kube 15 MIE are on the sound systems page.

Do I have to send both speakers?

Usually the main speaker holds the electronics, but we advise after the diagnosis, and sometimes it helps to bring both so we can test the link.
