GoPro repair in Amsterdam: HERO9 to HERO13, MAX and MAX 2

A cracked lens cover, water in the battery door, a battery that will not hold or a camera that overheats: what fails on a GoPro and what can be fixed.

GoPro repair in Amsterdam: HERO9 to HERO13, MAX and MAX 2

A GoPro is used where other cameras would not survive: in the sea, on a mountain bike, strapped to a helmet. It takes that well, until the day the front glass cracks, the door seal lets water in, or the battery stops lasting through a ride. Most of those faults are parts that can be replaced.

Blue Apple repairs GoPro cameras at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the GoPro repair page.

What usually goes wrong with GoPro cameras

  • Cracked or scratched front lens cover. On the HERO9 Black and newer the cover glass in front of the lens is a separate part. A crack or a deep scratch there ruins every shot, and replacing the cover is far cheaper than replacing the camera.
  • Water in the battery or port door. A GoPro is waterproof without a housing, but only while the door seal is clean and the latch closes properly. Sand, hair or a latch that has been forced open lets water in, and corrosion on the board follows within days.
  • Battery that will not hold a charge. Shorter recording time, a camera that shuts down in the cold or at 30 percent, or a battery that swells. Heavy 5K and 4K recording works the battery hard.
  • Overheating shutdowns. A camera in direct sun or in a closed case gets hot and stops recording; that is normal. A camera that shuts down in cool conditions, or that gets hot and will not start, may have a failing component.
  • Broken door, latch or USB-C port. The side door hinge and latch are known weak spots, and the USB-C port wears from daily plugging and unplugging.

The GoPro models we repair

Every model below has its own page, with the repairs we offer for it and what each one costs.

GoPro HERO13 Black, GoPro HERO12 Black, GoPro HERO11 Black, GoPro HERO10 Black, GoPro HERO9 Black, GoPro HERO (2024), GoPro MAX2, GoPro MAX.

Repair or replace?

If the fault is glass, a door, the battery or a port, repairing is almost always cheaper than replacing: those parts are a small share of the price of a new HERO. If the camera has been under water without a seal and shows corrosion, we tell you honestly after the diagnosis whether it is worth continuing, because boards that corroded once tend to fail again.

Looking after your GoPro

  • Rinse and dry before opening the door. After salt water, rinse with fresh water, dry the outside, and only then open the battery door.
  • Clean the seal and keep it clean. Wipe the rubber seal and the groove before every wet day, and replace the seal if it has nicks.
  • Use a protective lens or housing in rough conditions. A cheap lens protector takes the scratch instead of the cover glass.

Questions about GoPro repair

Can the front glass of a GoPro be replaced?

Yes. On the HERO9 Black and newer the lens cover is a separate part, and we replace it. A scratch on the lens inside the camera is a different job, and we say so after the diagnosis.

Do you repair the GoPro MAX and MAX 2 as well?

Yes, both 360 cameras are on our GoPro page. With two lenses, scratches on either one show up as stitching problems in the footage.

In short

A cracked cover, a worn seal, a tired battery or a loose door: on a GoPro each of those is a part that can be replaced on its own. See the GoPro repair page for the models and repairs, or send us a request. You will find us at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam, and you can call 020 239 11 93 with a question first.
