The newest iPhones: what to check before a repair, which faults show up first, and why warranty and AppleCare come before anything else.

iPhone 17, iPhone Air and newer: repair guide for Amsterdam

A phone that is a year old rarely needs a repair, and when it does, the first question is not who can fix it but who should. A recent iPhone is often still under Apple's warranty or AppleCare, and your own insurance may cover a cracked screen, so it pays to look before you book anything.

Blue Apple repairs the newest iPhones, including the iPhone 17 range, the iPhone Air and the models after them, at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the iPhone repair page.

What is different about the iPhone 17 and newer

  • Check your cover first. Apple's warranty, AppleCare and your home or phone insurance can pay for a fault or for accidental damage at a lower cost than any repair. If you are covered, use that. If you are not, or you want it done today, that is where we come in.
  • USB-C and wireless charging. Recent iPhones charge over USB-C and wirelessly. The port is one of the few parts that wears from daily use, and lint packed into it is a common reason a charge comes and goes.
  • Glass front, glass back. The display sits under Ceramic Shield glass and the back is glass too. They are hard to scratch and still break on a hard corner drop.
  • A new shape every year. The newest models change in thickness, materials and camera layout from one year to the next, which is why we look at the exact model on its page before we quote.

What usually goes wrong with the newest iPhones

  • Cracked screen. Large displays break on corner drops. The glass can be cracked while the display underneath still works, but a crack lets in dust and moisture and is best repaired soon.
  • Cracked back glass or camera cover. The back glass and the glass over the cameras take impacts too. A cracked camera cover shows up as flare or soft photos.
  • Charging that comes and goes. Usually lint in the port, or a cable that only works at an angle. Clean the port with a wooden toothpick before you assume the worst.
  • Battery that drains fast. Rare on a recent phone. Check for a runaway app or a software update first; if it persists, the battery or the board is at fault.
  • Water damage. These phones resist water, they are not waterproof. The seals weaken after a drop or an earlier repair, and a phone that went in the sea or a bath should be switched off and looked at straight away.

Repair or replace?

On a phone this recent, repairing is almost always better than replacing: the part costs a fraction of a new iPhone, and the phone keeps its value. If it is still under warranty or AppleCare, use that first for anything it covers. After the diagnosis we tell you what the repair costs and whether it is worth doing.

Looking after your iPhone

  • Use a case with a raised edge. It keeps the glass off the floor in a flat fall, which is how most screens break.
  • Do not charge under a pillow or in a pocket. Heat is the main enemy of a battery that is still new.
  • Keep the charging port clean. A wooden toothpick lifts the lint out without damaging the contacts.

Questions about repairing a recent iPhone

Is my new iPhone still under warranty?

Look at Settings, General, About, Coverage. If it is covered, use Apple for a covered fault. Damage from a drop is usually not covered, and that is where a repair here is a normal option.

Do you repair the iPhone Air and the Pro models?

Yes, every model on this page has its own page on the iPhone page, with the repairs we offer for it.
