Robotic lawn mower repair in Amsterdam: faults and care

A robotic mower that will not charge, stops in the rain or leaves its station: what usually fails on Husqvarna, Mammotion, Worx and others.

Robotic lawn mower repair in Amsterdam: faults and care

A robotic mower does hard outdoor work every day in rain, wet grass and sun, which is why its faults are different from those of a household robot. The battery, the wheels, the cutting disc and the weather sensors take most of the wear, and the charging station is more often at fault than people expect.

Blue Apple repairs robotic lawn mowers in Amsterdam. The robotic lawn mowers page lists the brands we work with, what typical repairs cost and how to send us a request.

What usually goes wrong with robotic lawn mowers

  • Battery that is weak or will not charge. A mower that cuts for a fraction of its normal time, or does not return to charge, has a tired battery or a charging fault.
  • Drive motor or wheel fault. A mower that spins on the spot, gets stuck on slopes or makes a grinding noise has worn wheels, packed grass in a wheel or a failing drive motor.
  • Blade motor or disc fault. A cutting disc that wobbles, rattles or has stopped turning, usually after hitting a stone or root.
  • Collision, lift or rain sensor fault. A mower that stops for no reason, or thinks it has been lifted, has a faulty sensor.
  • Charging station or contact fault. Corroded contacts, or a station that no longer supplies power, leave a mower flat.

Repair or replace?

A mower with a worn battery, a drive motor or a blade motor is usually worth repairing, because a replacement part costs far less than a new robot. An older, entry-level model with several faults is closer to the point where a new one makes sense. We tell you after the diagnosis. For safety, disconnect the battery if you can and cover or remove the blades before you bring or send a mower.

Looking after your mower

  • Clean the underside after every few cuts. Packed grass and damp are what wear the wheels and the blade motor.
  • Replace the blades on schedule. Dull blades make the motor work harder.
  • Store it indoors in winter. Charged to about half, in a dry place, the battery lasts years longer.
