The cheapest Galaxy A phones are the ones people buy for a child, a parent or as a first smartphone, and they are used hard. A new one costs little, which means the question about a repair is more about proportion than about quality, and some repairs are worth doing and some are not.
Blue Apple repairs the budget Galaxy A phones, from the A01 and A11 to the A26, at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the Samsung repair page.
What is different about the Galaxy A2x, A1x and A0x series
- A mix of LCD and AMOLED. The oldest and cheapest of these phones have LCD screens, the newer A15, A16 and A2x have AMOLED. The model page shows which yours has.
- Different connectors. Some of the older models use micro-USB, the newer ones USB-C. A worn connector is one of their most common faults.
- Plastic everywhere. The back and the frame are plastic. They scuff and crack less than glass, and the screen is usually the only part that breaks.
- A phone that is cheap to replace. That is why we look at the cost of the repair against a new phone before anything else.
What usually goes wrong with the budget Galaxy A phones
- Battery that has faded. On a phone of three or more years, a new battery is the most worthwhile repair.
- Charging port faults. A worn or loose connector, the most common fault on a budget phone.
- Cracked screen. The cost depends on the model. On the oldest ones it may be close to the price of a new phone.
- Does not turn on. A flat or failed battery, or a fault on the board.
- Speaker or microphone faults. Quiet calls or a mic that does not pick up the voice, often dirt or a worn part.

Repair or replace?
On the cheapest phones a repair has to be small to be sensible. A battery or a charging port usually is. A screen on an A01 or A11 often is not, and we tell you so after the diagnosis. If the phone holds photos you want to keep, tell us: getting the data off comes before anything else.
Looking after your Galaxy A
- Back up the photos. The phone is cheap, the photos are not.
- Use a case and a protector. It is the cheapest repair there is.
- Use a decent cable. Cheap cables wear out a budget connector faster.
