The Galaxy S24 and S23 are two and three years old: new enough to be good phones and old enough for the first batteries to be tired and the first screens to have cracked. They share most of their parts and their repairs, with one important difference in the Ultra.

What is different about the Galaxy S24 and S23 series
- The S24 Ultra changed shape. The S24 Ultra has a flat display and a titanium frame, where the S23 Ultra has curved edges. They are different screens, which is why we look at each model on its own page.
- Aluminium on the rest. The S24, S24+, S23 and S23+ have aluminium frames and glass fronts and backs.
- FE models. The S24 FE and S23 FE are the cheaper "fan edition" phones. Their parts are different from the standard S models.
- Under-display fingerprint sensor. The sensor reads through the screen, so the quality of a replacement display decides how well unlock works.
What usually goes wrong with the Galaxy S24 and S23
- Battery that no longer lasts the day. The S23 is the first to show it. Look at Battery Settings, and if the phone needs a charge by afternoon, a new battery is worth it.
- Cracked screen. The most common repair. The model page lists the screen options for your phone and what each costs.
- Green or pink line on the display. A coloured vertical line that appears on its own is usually the OLED panel, not the glass.
- Charging port faults. A port that is loose, dirty or damaged by a poor cable.
- Cracked back glass or camera cover. Falls break the glass back and the rings over the lenses, which shows up as flare in photos.

- Replace the battery when the day no longer fits. It is the best value repair on a phone of this age.
- Do not use a cheap charger. Poor chargers heat the battery and the port.
- Use a case on the Ultra. The big display is the most expensive part.
