What usually goes wrong with Sonos headphones
- Ear cushions that wear or flatten. Daily use breaks down the cushions, and they lose the seal that the noise cancelling and the bass depend on.
- Battery that no longer lasts. Like any lithium battery, it fades with charging cycles and with heat.
- USB-C port that is loose or dirty. A charge that only works at an angle or comes and goes.
- Headband wear or damage. A band that has been bent in a bag or sat on.
- Water or moisture damage. Rain or sweat in a cup. Corrosion continues after drying, so it is best looked at soon.

Repair or replace?
The Sonos Ace costs a lot new, and the parts that wear are inexpensive to replace. A repair is almost always the better deal for a recent pair, and we tell you after the diagnosis if the damage is too extensive.
Looking after your Sonos Ace
- Use the case. The Ace comes with one, and it protects the band.
- Wipe the cushions. Sweat and skin oil age the surface.
- Keep them out of the heat. A hot car is hard on the battery and the cushions.
