Unitree Go2, A2 and G1 robot repair in Amsterdam

A joint motor that overheats, a battery that fades, a leg that goes limp or a sensor that fails: what usually goes wrong on a Unitree robot.

Unitree Go2, A2 and G1 robot repair in Amsterdam

Unitree's Go2 quadrupeds and the G1 humanoid are high-performance robots, used in research, education and demonstrations. They are expensive and not widely serviced, which is exactly when an honest independent opinion is useful. We tell you up front which repairs are realistic and which are not.

Blue Apple looks at Unitree robots at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. The Unitree repair page shows what a typical repair costs per model; the final price is confirmed in writing after the diagnosis.

What usually goes wrong with Unitree robots

  • Joint motor that overheats or fails. Each joint is a compact motor and gearbox. A leg that goes limp, a joint that overheats, or one that makes a noise points at a failing actuator.
  • Battery that no longer lasts. Walking time drops as the pack ages; a swollen pack should be taken out of service.
  • Sensor and camera faults. The cameras, the LiDAR on some models and the foot sensors can fail from impacts or from falls.
  • Control board and wiring. After a fall or a short, the board or a cable can fail, so the robot does not start or reports errors.
  • Damaged covers and structure. A robot that has fallen can crack its shell or bend a limb, which affects the joints behind it.

Repair or replace?

A repair on a Unitree is usually worth it because of the price new, but parts and some repairs depend on the supplier. We check availability and the practical limits before we agree a price, and we say so openly if a repair is not realistic.

Looking after your Unitree robot

  • Keep it away from stairs and edges. A fall is the biggest cause of damage.
  • Keep the battery charged and cool. Heat shortens the life of the pack.
  • Let the joints cool between sessions. Continuous heavy use heats the actuators.
