Trezor repair in Amsterdam: Model One, Model T, Safe 3 and Safe 5

A Trezor that is not recognised, has a dead screen or a worn USB port: what to check first, what a hardware repair can fix and what it cannot.

Trezor repair in Amsterdam: Model One, Model T, Safe 3 and Safe 5

A Trezor that no longer shows up in Trezor Suite, or shows a blank screen, is alarming mostly because of what it holds. What helps is knowing that the funds are not in the device: they are on the blockchain, and the Trezor holds the keys, which can be restored from your recovery seed. The repair question then becomes simpler than it looks.

Blue Apple repairs Trezor hardware wallets at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the Trezor repair page.

What usually goes wrong with Trezor hardware wallets

  • Not recognised by the computer. Before blaming the Trezor, try another cable, another port and another computer. Cables wear, and a cable that charges does not always carry data. If it still does not appear, the USB connector on the device is the next suspect.
  • Worn or loose USB connector. The connector takes years of plugging in and out. A connection that only works at an angle, or drops when you touch the cable, is a port that is coming off the board.
  • Touchscreen that does not respond. On the Model T and the Safe 5 the touchscreen is how you confirm everything. A cracked panel, or one that reacts in the wrong place, makes the wallet impossible to use even though it starts.
  • Buttons and display on the Model One and Safe 3. Stuck or dead buttons, or an OLED with lines, missing pixels or nothing at all. The device may still be working underneath.
  • Water or moisture damage. A pocket in the rain, a bag with a leaking bottle. Corrosion on the board keeps spreading after the device dries, so sooner is better.

The Trezor models we repair

Repair or replace?

If you still have your recovery seed, buying a new Trezor and restoring the seed onto it is almost always faster, and often cheaper, than repairing. A repair is most useful when the seed is no longer available and the Trezor is the only way in: then opening it carefully is all that matters. We cannot recover keys that have been lost, and we will say so before you pay anything.

Looking after your Trezor

  • Keep the recovery seed offline and private. Never photograph it, never type it into a website, and never give it to anyone who asks, including a repair shop. We will never ask for it.
  • Use a good cable. A short, undamaged data cable prevents most "device not found" problems.
  • Protect the screen. A small pouch or the original box keeps keys and coins away from the display.

How a repair works at Blue Apple

Open your model on the Trezor repair page, choose the repair and you see the price straight away. You can bring it to our workshop at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam, have it collected (pickup and delivery) or send it by post. If your fault is not in the list, the custom repair form lets you describe it, and we come back with a price before any work starts.

Questions about Trezor repair

Will you need my recovery seed?

No, never. A hardware repair does not need it, we do not want to see it, and anyone who asks for it should be refused.

My Trezor will not connect. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. A different cable, port or computer, and the latest Trezor Suite, solve a lot of cases. If those do not, bring it in and we look at the connector.

In short

Check the cable, the port and your recovery seed first; if the seed is safe, you have options, and if it is not, a careful hardware repair may be the way back in. See the Trezor repair page for the models and repairs, or send us a request. You will find us at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam, and you can call 020 239 11 93 with a question first.
