The Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 families, including the a models and the Pro: the camera bar, the fingerprint sensor and the faults a phone of this age collects.

Google Pixel 8 and 7 repair in Amsterdam: 7a, 8a and Pro

The Pixel 7 and 8 are two to four years old: new enough to be good phones and old enough that the battery is the thing to look at and the first screens have cracked. They share a lot of their design and most of their repairs, with a few differences that are worth knowing.

Blue Apple repairs the Google Pixel 7 and 8 ranges, including the a models and the Pro, at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the Google Pixel repair page.

What is different about the Pixel 8 and 7

  • The camera bar of the Pixel 7. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro have a metal bar across the back with the lenses behind glass, a design that continued into the Pixel 8 with a softer shape.
  • A smaller Pixel 8. The Pixel 8 is smaller than the Pixel 7, and the 8 Pro has a temperature sensor next to the camera bar. Different bodies mean different parts.
  • Fingerprint sensor under the screen. The sensor reads through the display, so a replacement screen has to read well.
  • The a models are cheaper. The Pixel 7a and 8a are the cheaper versions with simpler bodies. Their repairs are of the same kind, and the cost against the value of the phone is closer.

What usually goes wrong with the Pixel 8 and 7

  • Battery that no longer lasts. On a Pixel 7 from 2022, the battery is the first thing to fade, and a new one is usually worth it.
  • Cracked screen. The most common repair. The model page shows the options for your Pixel and what each costs.
  • Cracked camera cover. Falls crack the glass over the lenses, which shows up as flare in photos.
  • Charging port faults. A loose or dirty USB-C port.
  • Fingerprint sensor that is slow or does not work. Often a screen or protector problem, sometimes the sensor. We check which.

Repair or replace?

A Pixel 7 or 8 is worth repairing: a battery or a screen costs far less than a new phone, and Google supports them with updates for years. On a Pixel 7a or 8a with several faults, we say honestly after the diagnosis whether a replacement is the better route.

Looking after your Pixel

  • Replace the battery when the day no longer fits. It is the best value repair on a phone of this age.
  • Use a case and a protector. It is cheaper than the screen.
  • Do not use a screen protector that blocks the fingerprint sensor. A thick one makes it slow.
