The iPhone 15 was the year Apple moved from Lightning to USB-C, and gave the Pro models a titanium frame. It is three years old now, which is the point at which batteries start to show their age and the first drops have happened, so the repairs we see are a mix of both.
Blue Apple repairs the four iPhone 15 models at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the iPhone repair page.
What is different about the iPhone 15 series
- USB-C instead of Lightning. Every iPhone 15 charges and transfers over USB-C. The port is a standard one, but it still wears, and lint is the most common reason a cable stops fitting well.
- Dynamic Island on all four. The 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max all have the Dynamic Island, with the sensors behind the screen. A screen replacement has to carry them across properly.
- Titanium on the Pro, aluminium on the rest. The Pro models have a titanium frame and an Action button in place of the old mute switch. The 15 and 15 Plus have an aluminium frame and a colour-infused glass back.
- A battery that lasts longer. Apple designed the iPhone 15 battery to hold its capacity for more charging cycles than older models, but at three years old many have started to fade.
What usually goes wrong with the iPhone 15 series
- Cracked screen. The most common repair on any iPhone. The screen can be original, refurbished or an aftermarket option, and the model page shows which we offer for your phone.
- Battery that has lost capacity. A phone that needs charging by the afternoon, or shuts down in the cold. Battery Health in Settings shows the figure.
- USB-C port that is loose or dirty. A charge that only works at an angle, or does not start. Clean it first; if it still fails, the port is worn.
- Cracked back glass. The glass back breaks on a hard fall without hurting the phone, but it should be repaired before it cuts someone.
- Camera problems. A cracked lens cover shows up as flare or blurry shots, and a camera that will not focus after a drop may have a damaged module.

Repair or replace?
At three years old, an iPhone 15 is a phone worth keeping: the repair of a screen, a battery or a port costs far less than a new phone, and it will get software updates for years. We say after the diagnosis if a particular phone has too many faults at once to be worth it.
Looking after your iPhone
- Replace a tired battery rather than living with it. A battery that has faded makes the phone feel slow and drops out in the cold.
- Clean the USB-C port every few months. A wooden toothpick is enough.
- Use a case on the Pro models too. Titanium is tough; the glass around it is not.
