The iPad Air is the iPad most people should buy: nearly as capable as the Pro for much less. That also makes it the one that is carried to school, onto the sofa and into bags every day, and the repairs we see are the ones that a tablet in daily use collects.
Blue Apple repairs the iPad Air, from the Air 4 and Air 5 to the 11 and 13 inch models with M2, M3 and M4 chips, at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the iPad repair page.
What is different about the iPad Air
- A laminated Liquid Retina display. The glass is bonded to the panel. A cracked glass means a new display unit, not a patch.
- Touch ID in the top button. The Air unlocks with a fingerprint sensor in the power button. It is paired to the tablet, so a replacement button needs care.
- USB-C from the Air 4 on. Every iPad Air from the fourth generation charges over USB-C, and has a magnetic connection for the Apple Pencil.
- From 10.9 to 13 inch. The Air 4 and Air 5 have a 10.9 inch display; the later Airs come in 11 and 13 inch, which are different parts.
What usually goes wrong with the iPad Air
- Cracked display. The most common iPad Air repair, usually after a fall onto a corner. The model page shows the options we offer and the price.
- Battery that no longer lasts. On an Air 4 from 2020, a battery that gives a fraction of its old life is a worthwhile repair.
- USB-C port faults. A port that is loose, dirty or no longer charges.
- Power button or Touch ID that stops working. A button that sticks or a sensor that no longer reads.
- Does not turn on. A flat battery, a charging fault or a board fault. We find out where the power stops.

Repair or replace?
An iPad Air is a tablet worth repairing: a display, a battery or a port costs far less than a new Air. We tell you after the diagnosis what the repair costs and whether several faults together change the answer. A protective case is the cheapest repair there is.
Looking after your iPad Air
- Use a case that covers the corners. It is where a laminated display cracks.
- Do not leave it on a hot dashboard. Heat harms the battery.
- Use a decent charger and cable. It is kinder to the port and the battery.
