The small iPad, carried everywhere: the mini 5, mini 6 and mini 7, and which faults and repairs matter on a tablet that fits in a coat pocket.

iPad mini repair in Amsterdam: mini 5, mini 6 and mini 7

The iPad mini is the iPad that goes everywhere: in a coat pocket, a handbag, a cockpit bag or a kitchen. That also means it gets dropped, sat on and charged in strange places, and the repairs we see on it are the ones that come from being carried.

Blue Apple repairs the iPad mini, the mini 5, the mini 6 and the mini 7, at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the iPad repair page.

What is different about the iPad mini

  • Three different minis. The mini 5 has a 7.9 inch display and Lightning, the mini 6 an 8.3 inch display and USB-C, and the mini 7 a similar body with a newer chip. The display and the port differ between them.
  • Touch ID in the top button on the mini 6 and 7. The mini 6 and 7 have no home button and read your fingerprint in the power button.
  • A small, tightly built body. Everything is packed close to the display, so a hard fall onto a corner is more likely to damage more than the glass.
  • Apple Pencil support. The mini works with the Apple Pencil, which sits on the side on the mini 6 and 7.

What usually goes wrong with the iPad mini

  • Cracked display. The most common repair. The model page lists what we offer for your mini and what it costs.
  • Charging port faults. A Lightning or USB-C port that is loose, dirty or worn by years of charging in a bag.
  • Battery that has faded. On a mini 5 from 2019, a battery that gives a fraction of its old life is a worthwhile repair.
  • Bent frame after a fall. A hard fall can bend the small body and press on the display.
  • Does not turn on. A flat battery, a charging fault or a board fault.

The iPad mini models we repair

Every model below has its own page, with the repairs we offer for it and what each one costs.

iPad mini 7 (2024), iPad mini 6 (2021), iPad mini 5 (2019).

Repair or replace?

A mini is worth repairing, particularly the mini 6 and 7: the parts cost far less than a new iPad, and the tablet is one of the nicest to use. On a mini 5 with several faults at once, we say honestly after the diagnosis that the money may be better kept.

Looking after your iPad mini

  • Use a case with a raised edge. It protects the corners where the display cracks.
  • Keep it out of back pockets. A small iPad sat on is a bent iPad.
  • Clean the port gently. A wooden toothpick lifts the lint out.
