The iPhone 16 range arrived in 2024 with a new button, a bigger Pro display and, a few months later, a cheaper sibling. They are still young phones, which means the faults we see are mostly the ones caused by drops, water and daily charging rather than age.
Blue Apple repairs every phone in the iPhone 16 range at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Each model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the iPhone repair page.
What is different about the iPhone 16 series
- Camera Control. The 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have a touch-sensitive Camera Control button on the side. It is part of the frame, so a drop onto the side can damage it as well as the glass.
- Two kinds of frame. The 16 and 16 Plus have an aluminium frame; the Pro models have titanium and larger displays than before. Both take a hard fall well, and the glass is what breaks.
- The 16e is a different phone. It has one rear camera, a USB-C port and Face ID, and no MagSafe. Its repairs are close to the others, but we look at it by its own model page.
- USB-C everywhere. Every model charges over USB-C. A loose port or lint in it shows up as a charge that only works at an angle.
What usually goes wrong with the iPhone 16 series
- Cracked screen. Corner drops crack the front glass, and on the larger Pro displays more surface is exposed. If the picture still works, a crack is still worth fixing before dust gets in.
- Cracked back glass. The back glass is a glass panel that can break without hurting the phone, but it looks bad and can cut a finger.
- Camera Control that does not respond. After a drop on the side, or moisture, the touch button can stop reacting while the rest of the phone is fine.
- Charging port faults. A worn or lint-packed USB-C port, or a cable that fits loosely.
- Battery that drains fast. Uncommon on a phone this young. Look at Battery Health first, and at which app is using the power.

Repair or replace?
With a phone from 2024 or 2025, a repair is almost always the right choice: the parts cost far less than a new iPhone, and the phone has years of updates ahead. If it is still under warranty or AppleCare, use that for anything it covers. We tell you after the diagnosis what a repair costs.
Looking after your iPhone
- Put a protector on the camera glass. It is a cheap way to stop scratches on the lenses.
- Do not carry it loose with keys. Metal on glass is how a phone gets scratched in the first week.
- Dry the port after rain or sweat. Moisture in the USB-C port causes corrosion on the contacts.
