Ozobot repair in Amsterdam: Bit+, Evo and Ari

An Ozobot that will not charge, loses the line, has a dead light or does not respond: what usually fails on these tiny robots and what can be done.

Ozobot repair in Amsterdam: Bit+, Evo and Ari

Ozobots are a few centimetres across and follow lines drawn on paper or a screen. That makes them popular in classrooms, and it also means the parts doing the work, the optical sensors, the tiny wheels and the battery, are very small and wear out. Many of them are repairable, but they are delicate and we say honestly what is realistic.

Blue Apple looks at Ozobot mini robots at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. The Ozobot repair page shows what a typical repair costs per model; the final price is confirmed in writing after the diagnosis.

What usually goes wrong with Ozobot mini robots

  • Robot that will not charge or hold a charge. The battery is tiny and ages with use. A robot that dies within minutes, or does not respond on its charger, has a worn battery or a damaged charging connection.
  • Loses the line or behaves randomly. The robot reads the line through small optical sensors on the underside. Dust or damage there makes it wander off.
  • Lights that stay dark or show the wrong colour. The LED that signals colour codes can fail, and the robot then no longer shows its state.
  • Wheels or motors that stall. Hair or dust in the tiny wheels, or a worn motor, makes it veer or stop.
  • Bluetooth that will not connect. A robot that is not found by the app can have a failing radio or a flat battery.

The Ozobot models we repair

Every model below has its own page, with an estimate of what a typical repair costs.

Ozobot Bit+, Ozobot Evo, Ozobot Ari.

Repair or replace?

Because Ozobots are inexpensive, the repair has to be proportionate. A battery or a wheel can be worth doing, particularly for a classroom set, but for a single Bit+ with several faults at once, replacing may be the sensible route. We tell you after the diagnosis.

Looking after your Ozobot

  • Keep the underside clean. A soft brush or a bit of tape lifts dust off the sensors and wheels.
  • Charge them regularly. A tiny battery left flat is the one that will not recover.
  • Use a clear surface. Scratched screens or dirty paper confuse the sensors.
