The Sennheiser AMBEO soundbars use many drivers and a microphone-based calibration to turn a room into a cinema. That is a lot of electronics in one bar, and the faults we see are on the boards that handle power, HDMI and sound processing rather than on the speakers themselves.

What usually goes wrong with Sennheiser AMBEO soundbars and subwoofers
- No sound over HDMI eARC. Check the cable, the eARC port and the TV's sound settings first. If the bar stays silent after that, the HDMI board may be at fault.
- Will not switch on, or restarts. A bar that is dead or restarts under load points at the power supply or the main board.
- Room calibration that fails. The AMBEO calibrates with microphones in the bar. If the calibration fails every time, or the sound is clearly off, a microphone or the processing board can be the cause.
- Dropouts, crackle or a driver that is silent. Failing amplifier channels or a damaged driver.
- Subwoofer that hums or will not connect. An amplifier fault, a failing driver or a lost wireless link.

Repair or replace?
A repair is usually better than a replacement for an AMBEO Max or Plus, where the bar is large and costs a lot new. For the smaller Mini, we compare the repair with a new bar and tell you honestly after the diagnosis.
Looking after your AMBEO soundbar
- Give the bar clear space. The microphones and the upward-firing drivers work best with room around them.
- Use a surge protector. It protects the power and HDMI boards.
- Recalibrate after moving it. The calibration is room-specific.

Often it is a cable, a port or a setting. Try a different HDMI cable and the eARC port first; if it stays silent, bring it in.
