The Skydio 2 and 2+ are known for flying themselves around obstacles using six cameras that look in every direction. That is clever and it also gives the drone more places to fail than a normal one: when the navigation cameras are dirty, scratched or damaged, the whole obstacle-avoidance system suffers.

What usually goes wrong with Skydio drones
- Obstacle avoidance that does not work. The drone flies as normal but refuses to track or avoid. Often a dirty or scratched navigation camera lens, sometimes a failing camera or its cable.
- Gimbal and camera faults. A shaking or tilted picture after a rough landing or a crash.
- Propellers, motors and arms. Damage after a collision: bent propellers, a rough motor or a cracked arm.
- Battery that no longer lasts. Flight time that has fallen away, or a battery that swells.
- Charging port. A port that no longer charges the battery or the drone.

Repair or replace?
A repair is worthwhile when the fault is one part, such as a navigation camera, a gimbal or a battery. Skydio now focuses on professional customers, so accessories and parts for the older consumer models are harder to find; we check availability before we agree a repair, and say so if a part cannot be sourced.
Looking after your drone
- Keep the navigation cameras clean. A soft cloth is enough. A dirty lens is the most common reason obstacle avoidance fails.
- Replace propellers as a set. Chips and cracks cause vibration.
- Do not store the battery empty. Half charged and cool is best.
