DJI drone repair in Amsterdam: Mavic, Air, Mini, Avata, Neo

A crash, a gimbal error or a battery that gives up early: what usually breaks on a DJI drone, and what can be repaired before you buy a new one.

DJI drone repair in Amsterdam: Mavic, Air, Mini, Avata, Neo

DJI drones are made to be flown, and most of what goes wrong comes from the same few moments: a landing that went sideways, a branch that took a propeller, a battery left empty for months. Many of these faults can be repaired, and a repair costs a fraction of a new drone, especially on the larger Mavic and Air models.

Blue Apple repairs DJI drones at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam. Every model has its own page with the repairs we offer for it: start at the DJI drone repair page.

What usually goes wrong with DJI drones

  • Gimbal and camera faults. A gimbal error at start-up, a camera that tilts or shakes, or a picture that is suddenly soft. The small gimbal motors and the flat cable behind the camera are the most delicate parts of the drone, and a crash or even a rough landing can strain them.
  • Propellers, motors and arms. Bent or chipped propellers cause vibration that shows in the picture. If the drone pulls to one side or a motor sounds rough after a crash, the motor or the arm it sits on may be damaged.
  • Battery trouble. Flight batteries lose capacity with age and with every deep discharge. A battery that swells, runs hot or drops quickly in the air should be retired, not charged one more time.
  • Compass, IMU and GPS errors. Calibration messages that keep coming back, a drone that drifts in hover or will not get a GPS lock can point to a failing sensor, or to a knock hard enough to disturb one. Recalibrating in an open space away from metal comes first; if the message returns, it needs a look.
  • Charging and USB-C port. A worn port on the drone or the controller that no longer charges or connects, or a charging hub that does not recognise the battery.
  • Water and dust. Most DJI drones are not waterproof. A landing in wet grass or a splash can corrode the board over the following weeks, so a drone that got wet should be switched off and looked at rather than tried again.

Repair or replace?

For a drone that cost real money, a repair is usually the better choice: a new gimbal, battery or set of motors costs far less than a new drone. Replacing makes more sense for an older entry-level model with several faults at once, or when the repair would cost more than the drone is worth second-hand. If the drone has DJI Care Refresh, check first what the plan covers, because a covered replacement is cheaper than any repair. After the diagnosis we tell you which side of the line yours is on.

Looking after your drone

  • Calibrate the compass at a new location. Do it in the open, away from cars, metal fences and rebar, before the first flight somewhere new.
  • Check the propellers before every flight. Look for hairline cracks and chips and replace them as a set; a damaged propeller is cheap compared with what it can cause.
  • Store batteries partly charged. Neither full nor empty. DJI's own guidance is roughly half, kept cool and dry.
  • Land on a flat, clean surface. A landing pad keeps grit and wet grass away from the gimbal and the vents.

Questions about DJI repair

Can a drone that crashed still be repaired?

Often yes. The first question is which parts took the impact: propellers and arms are straightforward, a gimbal or camera needs more care, and a damaged mainboard is the least predictable. After the diagnosis we tell you what is damaged and what can be done.

Do you repair the DJI remote controller too?

Yes. Sticks that drift, cracked screens, buttons and charging ports on the DJI RC and RC Pro controllers are on the DJI controllers page, and the Osmo pocket and action cameras are on the DJI Osmo page.

In short

A crash does not have to mean a new drone: the gimbal, propellers, motors and batteries can each be replaced on their own. See the DJI drone repair page for the models and repairs, or send us a request. You will find us at Rijnstraat 76-H in Amsterdam, and you can call 020 239 11 93 with a question first.
